David Christie - Saddle Up

I was so excited when I FINALLY got this single in the mail last week from The Netherlands. It only took six weeks to recieve from it's ship date!

This is from David Christie's second album, Back In Control, released in 1982. "Saddle Up" was the first single off the album, and it's one of my favorite songs I've discovered this year!

I talked about David early in August, about how much I loved his first album, Back Fire. But also how I didn't know much about Mr. Christie besides what little info I could gain from the sleeve of the Lp. One of you wonderful readers chimed in to fill in the gaps in my last piece. So hear is a little more info about David Christie.

From Micha in the Nethelands:

Mr. Christie (real name Jacques Pépino), quite famous here in Europe, was from France, Back Fire was his 3rd album. He died tragic and young(ish), suicide in 1997 at age 49. According to the french wikipedia page he also used the pseudonym, James Bolden and co-wrote "I Love To Love" for Tina Charles, so a bit more info, perhaps there is more out there and french readers who can tell us more.

There's even a Seattle connection! His songwriting partner for most of his career was a man named Jack Robinson who was born and raised in and around the Seattle area! Together they wrote some very famous songs. "I Love To Love" mentioned above, and Grace Jones' "Do Or Die".

You'll love "Saddle Up". It's a little slow, (110 bpm) but rides along at a gallop!

In addition to the original below I'm also posting a slightly gag-worthy remix by a couple of blokes called Jolly Jumper. It's an update, but I'm quite sure not the kind the song actually needed. But being a completist and all....

Enjoy.
